I work across illustration, design, project management and tutoring. My projects range from illustrations and book design to exhibitions and educational work. Read more below or reach out to me to discuss your idea.

01

Illustration

Visual storytelling & expression

I create illustrations that tell stories and make ideas clearer. Most often for magazines, books and various visual communication. My work is conceptual and expressive – I like finding the tone and atmosphere that gives each message its right voice.

What's included?

Custom illustrations for print and digital use. Concept sketches, final artwork and delivery in requested formats. I can also create simple animations or GIF loops.

Examples

Editorial illustrations, campaigns, educational materials, packaging, icons, infographics, maps, posters, book covers and wall murals.

02

Book design

Complete book design – from concept to print-ready layout

I design books from concept to print – covers, inlays and production. I help publishers and authors create books that look good, read well and feel right for their purpose.

What's included?

Covers and inlays, typographic layout, image treatment and production files for print or e-book. I can also help out with illustrations, marketing materials or consulting on production, printing and distribution.

Examples

Book covers, layout and typography, illustrated books, company and anniversary publications, reports, small print runs and art catalogues.

03

Graphic design

Visual design for brands, events, and creative communication

I help companies and organizations find a clear and consistent visual expression. That can mean visual identities, layouts or design for print and digital use. For me, good design is about clarity and connection – helping your message land where it should.

What's included?

Layout and design for printed and digital materials such as posters, brochures, packaging, visual identities and presentations. I’m also happy to help you with brand guidelines, templates or small-scale motion graphics for social media and screens.

Examples

Digital assets for web and social media, campaign material, printed materials such as posters, brochures and reports, visual identities, logos, color and typography systems.

04

Project management

Coordinating creative projects from idea to launch

When I think about project management, it’s all about creating structure without losing the creative flow. I make sure things happen in the right order, people have what they need and communication stays clear. Whether it’s an exhibition, a design process or a book project, it always comes down to collaboration and clarity.

What's included?

Planning, scheduling, budgeting and communication between creative teams, suppliers and clients. If needed, I can assist with on-site coordination, installation supervision and documentation after project completion.

Examples

Planning and production of exhibitions, installations and events, coordination of book and print projects, management of creative teams, and temporary support for organisations during high workloads.

05

Talks & teaching

Talks and workshops on creativity, design and freelancing

I teach and occasionally give talks about illustration, design and the creative process for schools, teams and organizations. Each session is tailored and practical, mixing real examples, discussion and reflection. The goal is to share tools and perspectives that support curiosity, structure and confidence in creative work.

What's included?

Tailored sessions for schools, teams or organizations focusing on creative process, visual storytelling or working in the design field. Sessions can include hands-on exercises, Q&A:s or shorter inspirational talks adapted to events or exhibitions.

Examples

Guest lectures in illustration and design, workshops on idea development and storytelling, mentoring for students or creatives, and talks on freelancing and sustainable creative routines.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Working together

How does commissioning illustration work?

The process varies depending on the project, but this is how it usually goes:

1. Initial inquiry

You contact me with your needs.

2. Brief

We talk through your project, exchange ideas, and I ask a few questions. I send a written brief to make sure we’re aligned.

3. Quote and terms

You receive a quote with my proposed budget and standard terms.

4. Sketches

Once we agree on the project, I send sketches or rough drafts for your feedback.

5. Final artwork

After your feedback, I create the final illustration. At this stage, only small adjustments are possible.

6. Delivery

You receive the final files by email.

What should I include in an inquiry?

The more details, the better – but don’t worry if you’re unsure, we’ll figure it out together.

Here are a few things to think about:

  • Where and how will you use the illustrations (website, book cover, campaign, etc)?
  • Do you have a preferred style or references?
  • How many illustrations do you need?
  • Any specific composition, size, or concept in mind?
  • Deadline or rough timeframe?

Feel free to share reference images or moodboards if you have them.

Do you sign contracts?

Yes. Accepting a quote forms a legally binding contract.

My terms are based on the standard agreements recommended by Svenska Tecknare, the Swedish Association of Illustrators and Graphic Designers.

If you’d like to extend the usage or adjust the terms later, just get in touch: maja@majacronert.com

How do you price illustration work?

Fees depend mainly on time and usage rights.

Time

The cost reflects the complexity of the artwork—its size, detail, color, and how many revisions are needed.

I estimate the time required based on your brief before starting.

Usage and rights

Prices increase with the scale and duration of use.

For example, a magazine with a large print run, a global campaign, or long-term use will cost more than a local or one-off project.

Background & education

What is your background?

I started out as a physiotherapist but was always drawn to the visual side of things – drawing, design and illustration. Over time, I began taking on small freelance projects alongside my job and enrolled in various courses in visual communication to keep learning and exploring the creative field.

In 2021, I shifted my focus fully to illustration and graphic design and studied at Berghs School of Communication. Since then, I’ve been working independently with illustration, graphic design and project management – often within print production and exhibitions.

Alongside my freelance work, I teach at a higher vocational college, where I lecture on creative processes and graphic design. Teaching keeps me curious, grounded and constantly learning from the exchange of ideas with my students.

What have you studied?

I’ve completed a wide range of courses in visual communication, illustration, graphic design, and related fields – at schools such as Berghs, Beckmans, Lund University and several universities across Sweden and the U.S.

Rights & usage

Can I use your work in my projects?

You may not use my illustrations without permission.

If you run a totally non-commercial blog or social media account, you may share my work if you credit me with my full name and link back to my website.

Can I extend the usage rights later?

Yes, absolutely. If you’d like to use an illustration beyond what we originally agreed on, for example in a new campaign, format or publication, just get in touch.

We’ll review the new usage together and adjust the license and fee accordingly. It’s a straightforward process and I’ll make sure everything’s clear and documented before you move forward.
